Bar Manager

Boom + Batten, Victoria’s newest restaurant located at the Victoria International Marina, opening April 2019 is now actively searching for a Bar Manager to take our new restaurant to the top of Canada’s restaurant scene.

Your passion for exceptional service, innovative cocktails, beer and wine will lead our team to the execution of superior experiences for all guests. Your daily efforts must reflect the vision of our company. You will continuously train, develop and lead an incredible bar team who will be motivated by your inspirational leadership and who understand the crucial role they all play in the overall success of the business.

Summary of Responsibilities
-Liquor ordering and receiving.
-Supervision of all bar service staff in accordance with operating policies during their shift.
-Responsible for ensuring that proper liquor service and presentation are being met by all bar staff.
-Working closely with the service manager and wine director to ensure proper ordering, storage and inventory of wine program.
-Assisting guests and service staff with wine and beverage pairings.
-Organizing, building and maintaining a professional work environment.
-Overseeing all initial and ongoing training of the bartenders.
-Bar environment cleanliness.
-Inventory and cost control management with Optimum Control.
-Overseeing the proper execution of the entire beverage program.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Education
-Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
-Must possess good attitude, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
-Passion for cocktails, beer and wine.
-Strong background in hospitality with previous Bar Management experience.
-Must have proper skills with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
-Excellent knowledge of wine and wine service.
-Working knowledge of food preparation methods and culinary terminology.
-Experience with budgeting and cost controls.
-Serving it Right Certification.
-Preferred Squirrel POS, OpenTable and Optimum Control experience.

Service Manager / Assistant Service Manager

-Organizing and conducting pre-shift meetings and communicating pertinent information to all staff.
-Handling guest concerns and complaints in a prompt and professional manner.
-Working closely with the bar manager to ensure proper ordering, storage and inventory of wine program.
-Assisting guests and service staff with wine and beverage pairings.
-Responsible for scheduling front of house staff in 7shifts on a weekly basis.
-Organizing, building and maintaining a professional work environment.
-Recruiting and overseeing all training of front of house partners.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Education
-Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
-Must possess good attitude, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
-Sommelier certification preferred, or previous similar Sommelier experience.
-Strong background in hospitality.
